Το ερευνητικό έργο της κ. Κωστάκη επικεντρώνεται σε θέματα ανάλυσης επιβίωσης, στην μελέτη βιοιατρικών δεδομένων,  καθώς και στη μελέτη  ψυχικών διαταραχών κοινωνικών ομάδων και ιδιαίτερα της κατάθλιψης  και του άγχους.
